R2ISE History
R2ISE, Inc. is a dynamic Recovery Community Organization (RCO) founded by Alexia Jones, a person in long-term recovery and a dedicated artist. Alexia’s vision emerged from a personal need for a healing space where she could express herself creatively while navigating her recovery journey. That vision gave birth to R2ISE—an inclusive and empowering community where art and recovery intersect.
Established as a nonprofit in 2018 and located in the historic West End of Atlanta, R2ISE has since become Georgia’s first and only arts-focused RCO. To date, the organization has proudly served over 70,000 peers, offering innovative, non-clinical pathways to recovery. Recognized as a five-time award-winning organization, R2ISE is celebrated by its peers for its groundbreaking approach to recovery through creative expression.
At its core, R2ISE believes in the power of multiple pathways to wellness. In addition to its arts-based programs, R2ISE offers vital resources and support in housing, employment, education, social connection, and family engagement—ensuring individuals can maintain their wellness in all areas of life.
Signature programs include Chronicles of HOPE, a theatrical production based on real recovery journeys, The Comfort of Recovery, a statewide touring quilt project, and the R2ISE Permanent Collection: Graphic Narratives, a collection of art created by people in recovery sharing hope, resilience and courage.
R2ISE continues to offer ongoing opportunities for people in recovery, their families, and allies to grow, heal, and thrive through the power of art, peer connection, and community.
