The Comfort of Recovery: A Q&A with Alexia Jones, founder of R2ISE
The Comfort of Recovery — a large, beautiful quilt handcrafted by members of the R2ISE community to demonstrate the healing power of connection, recovery and stories. The quilt has already been displayed at the Governor’s Office, in hospitals and at medical schools — sparking awareness, education and new conversations about recovery. Next up: an installation April 1–31 and special evening event April 9 at the Emory Addiction Center in Atlanta — an outpatient substance use and mental health care facility operated by the Addiction Alliance of Georgia, a partnership between Emory Healthcare and the Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation.
A TAPESTRY OF ARTISTRY FOR RECOVERY
For months we took our time stitching together our stories. On August 30th, we had the opportunity to present our masterpiece athe Georgia Governors office.
It All Started When….
R2ISE Inc., a 501.3.c was founded in 2016 as a Recovery Community Organization (RCO). We support our peers
with substance abuse and/or mental health challenges via our location in the West End of Atlanta, meetings, and
classes via Zoom; and we accept contracted invitations to support recovery throughout Georgia and other states.
R2ISE’s focus is encouraging peers by providing and offering support by meeting with team members who are
certified by the State of Georgia as Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialists (CARES or CPS-AD)
and/or Certified Peer Specialists in Mental Health (CPS-MH).
R2ISE participants may receive one on one or group support with a R2ISE CPS-AD, participate in group-check-ins,
and are welcome to utilize any of the arts materials at our West End location which includes paints, music, drums,
spoken word, dance and more.
